In the late summer of 2017, a 25-year-old man named Nathan 'T Bone' Johnson was killed in Columbus, Georgia. His life was cut short on Sunday, August 20, 2017. The circumstances surrounding his death pointed to a violent end, and the local authorities began an investigation into the shooting.
Two months later, in October, a break in the case came when a man already in jail for another homicide was implicated in Johnson's death.
Brandon 'Chip' Senior, 31 years old at the time, was formally charged with the murder of Nathan Johnson. This new charge was added to the accusations he already faced in connection with the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Tamir Harris, which had occurred just two days after Johnson was killed.
Senior's legal troubles compounded with the new murder charge, as he also faced several gun-related charges, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Columbus police had apprehended Senior after a standoff on the same day Harris was fatally shot. Following the new charge in Johnson's case, a court appearance was scheduled for him.
