In the early morning hours of September 9, 2017, a house party in Macon, Georgia's Unionville neighborhood turned tragic, ending the life of 26-year-old Talesha Sierra Taylor. Gunshots erupted outside the residence on Patton Avenue at approximately 3:45 a.m., and Taylor was struck at least once. She was pronounced dead about thirty minutes later, leaving behind a community in shock and a family in mourning.
The scene was chaotic, with multiple shell casings found, but many potential witnesses were initially reluctant to cooperate with law enforcement.
The investigation into Taylor's death quickly led to the arrest of 25-year-old Tequilla Renee Brown, who was taken into custody and charged with felony murder and aggravated assault. Friends of Taylor indicated that a dispute on Facebook between her and Brown had escalated, potentially leading to the fatal confrontation. A few days later, a second suspect, 24-year-old Antwan Sherrod Lamar, was apprehended with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force. Lamar, who was acquainted with both Taylor and Brown, was also charged with murder and aggravated assault.
Following the arrests, the case moved through the legal system. Both Tequilla Renee Brown and Antwan Sherrod Lamar were later indicted by a Bibb County grand jury on murder charges and other related offenses in connection with the shooting death of Talesha Taylor.
