In a wooded area in east Macon, Georgia, a quiet Friday morning in November was shattered by a grim discovery. The body of 19-year-old Diamond Purvis was found, bringing a tragic end to a young life. Alongside her was the body of 31-year-old Sidney Bishop. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene, located on a trail between the King's Park subdivision and Hitchcock Road, around 10 a.m. on November 13, 2020.
Investigators quickly determined that the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide. It is believed that Bishop shot Purvis before turning the gun on himself. This violent act marked Macon's 44th homicide of the year. Friends of Diamond Purvis were left in shock, remembering her as a loving person who was not a fighter.
