James Edward Butler Jr., a 27-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on November 11, 2017, in Metter, Georgia. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when the Metter Police Department responded to a call about a shooting at 820 Hodges Street. Upon arrival, officers found Butler deceased at the scene from gunshot wounds. Another individual, Byron Brown, 28, was also shot and was air-lifted to Savannah for medical treatment.
