In the late autumn of 2017, a life was tragically cut short in east Macon, Georgia. Jonathan Demarcus Risby, a 24-year-old male, was fatally wounded by gunfire on November 17th. Another individual, a 39-year-old woman, was also injured in the incident. The shooting was not a random act of violence; authorities believed the perpetrator had a specific reason for targeting the victims.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect.
Anterrio Stinson, a 25-year-old man, was identified as the individual allegedly responsible for the death of Risby and the wounding of the female victim. A motive of a potential love triangle was suggested by law enforcement officials. Following the incident, Stinson went on the run, eluding capture for nearly a week.
The search for the suspected gunman concluded on November 22, 2017. Acting on information, the U.S. Marshal's Southeastern Regional Task Force located and apprehended Stinson at a motel in Norcross, Georgia. He was taken into custody without incident and subsequently transported to the Bibb County jail. Stinson was formally charged with murder and aggravated assault in connection with the shooting that claimed the life of Jonathan Demarcus Risby. While in custody for Risby's murder, Stinson was also served with warrants for another fatal shooting that had occurred on Halloween night of the same year.
