In a tragic turn of events on June 15, 2018, Ladell Williams, a 33-year-old male from Stockbridge, Georgia, lost his life. The incident that led to his death stemmed from a dispute on Tunis Road in Stockbridge, where he was shot at least twice. Following the shooting, Williams was transported to a local hospital by a private vehicle, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

The primary suspect in the fatal shooting was quickly identified by Henry County police as 29-year-old Lonnie Dee Reed. Investigators reported that Reed and Williams were acquainted with each other and the shooting occurred after an argument between the two. For about two weeks, Reed remained at large, and authorities considered him armed and dangerous. In a notable development, the suspect's own grandmother informed the police of her intention to turn him in. Shortly thereafter, on June 29, 2018, Lonnie Reed surrendered to the authorities.

Following his arrest, Reed faced multiple charges, including murder, use of a firearm by a convicted felon during the commission of a crime, and driving with a suspended or revoked license. In 2019, a year after the incident, Lonnie Reed was indicted on charges connected to the death of Ladell Williams. He was subsequently sentenced to serve 20 years for voluntary manslaughter and an additional 5 years on probation for the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is currently incarcerated at a Georgia Department of Corrections facility.
