In the late afternoon of a Saturday in Stockbridge, Georgia, the life of 19-year-old Joshus Radford was tragically cut short. On September 17, 2022, police responded to a call at the intersection of Monarch Village Way and Brookwater Drive around 4:30 p.m. There, they discovered the lifeless body of Radford in the street, the victim of a fatal shooting.
The case was immediately treated as a homicide as detectives began the arduous task of piecing together the events that led to the young man's death.
The investigation into the death of Joshus, a male who had attended Westlake High School and was employed at General Wholesale Food in Atlanta, proceeded with a sense of urgency. Detectives with the Stockbridge Police Department worked tirelessly and with what they described as 'laser focus and determination' to identify those responsible for the killing. Their efforts quickly yielded results, leading them to two suspects.
Within a day of the discovery of Radford's body, authorities announced the arrests of 26-year-old Garfield Plummer and 45-year-old Conrod Morrison. Both men were taken into custody and subsequently charged with murder in connection with the shooting. While the motive for the attack was not immediately released by law enforcement, they expressed confidence that they had apprehended the individuals involved. Both Plummer and Morrison were booked into the Henry County Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings. The swift arrests brought a small measure of resolution to a community shaken by the violent loss of a young life.
