In the summer of 2018, the quiet community of Hepzibah, Georgia, was unsettled by a grim discovery. On July 28th, the body of 36-year-old Antoine Dejon Jones, an African American male, was found in the backyard of his own home. The initial investigation by law enforcement revealed a violent end to his life; he had sustained at least one gunshot wound. To determine the precise cause of his death, his body was subsequently transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Lab for a thorough autopsy.
The investigation into the shooting death of Antoine Jones soon led to the identification of multiple individuals believed to be connected to the crime. Law enforcement officials implicated four people in the murder, a group that included both adults and teenagers. The list of suspects included 29-year-old Carlos Figueroa, who was identified as a wanted man and the brother-in-law of another person involved in the case.
