In the late summer of 2018, the life of 35-year-old Nelson Kirkland was abruptly ended by an act of violence in Augusta, Georgia. On the evening of Friday, September 7, 2018, Kirkland was shot and killed on Second Avenue. The Richmond County Coroner's Office confirmed his death, marking another instance of gun violence in the city.
