A simmering dispute at a Macon, Georgia gas station on the evening of July 1, 2019, tragically escalated, ending the life of 21-year-old Clintavious Mister. An argument between Mister and another man, later identified as 39-year-old Lamegia Amez Willis, turned fatal when Willis retrieved a handgun from his vehicle and shot Mister in the head. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office quickly identified Willis as the suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of malice murder.
Following the shooting, authorities sought the public's help in locating Willis, describing him as being 5'8' tall, weighing around 160 pounds, with long dreadlocks, a goatee, and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and white pants. The search for Willis concluded on July 3, 2019, when he turned himself in to deputies. He was subsequently booked into the Bibb County jail and held without bond.
In August 2021, Lamegia Amez Willis, then 41, stood trial for the murder of Clintavious Mister. During the trial, Willis took the stand in his own defense. The jury ultimately found Willis guilty of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Following the conviction, a judge sentenced Lamegia Amez Willis to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
