In the early morning hours of December 31, 2019, a tragic discovery was made in Atlanta, Georgia, at the intersection of Lenox Road and Buford Highway. Inside a red Kia Sorento that had rolled onto the sidewalk, authorities found the bodies of two men who had been fatally shot. One of the victims was identified as Kyle Booth, a 28-year-old Black / African American man from California. The other victim was 28-year-old Bryion Edwards, also from California.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the identities of both men.
Atlanta police responded to reports of a shooting around 4:30 a.m. and found the two men deceased inside the vehicle. Investigators believe the shooting occurred as the Kia Sorento was traveling through the intersection, leading them to suspect it was a targeted attack. Despite a thorough investigation and the placement of multiple evidence markers at the scene, a motive for the shooting has not been determined.
In an effort to gather more information, police released surveillance footage showing three other vehicles in the vicinity at the time of the incident. Authorities believe the occupants of these vehicles may have witnessed the shooting or the events leading up to it. However, no suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made in the case. A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest. The case remains an active investigation as the families of Kyle Booth and Bryion Edwards await justice.
