In the late hours of a Wednesday evening, the life of 20-year-old Jamun El Winslow of Lawrenceville was tragically cut short. On February 5, 2020, Gwinnett County police responded to a 'person shot' call shortly after 10 p.m. at a Shell gas station located at 1515 Pleasant Hill Road in an unincorporated area of Duluth, Georgia. Upon their arrival, however, officers did not find a victim in the gas station's parking lot.
Concerned for the well-being of the potential victim, the officers began to search the surrounding area. Their search led them a short distance away to 3740 Club Drive, in front of the Grande Club Apartments. There, they discovered a silver passenger car that had been disabled in the roadway, possibly from an accident. Inside the vehicle, they found Jamun El Winslow, who had succumbed to gunshot wounds. Investigators believe the shooting occurred at the gas station and that Winslow may have attempted to drive away before crashing his car.
The investigation into the fatal shooting continued, and on the following Tuesday, authorities made two arrests in connection with the case. Two 19-year-old women from Lilburn, Silvia Najarro and Jayce Villafana-Diaz, were taken into custody. Both suspects were charged with felony murder and aggravated assault for their alleged involvement in the death of Jamun El Winslow. The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to seek information from the public.
