In the summer of 2020, a young life was tragically cut short in a Hinesville mobile home park. Nahiem Henderson, a 17-year-old male, was fatally shot on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 22, 2020. A student at Long County High School, Henderson was discovered by Hinesville police officers lying outside a trailer in the Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park around 6:30 p.m. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency medical personnel attempted to revive him at the scene, but their efforts were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Henderson's death quickly pointed to a possible motive rooted in a prior confrontation. According to authorities, it is believed that an earlier dispute may have led to the fatal encounter. When Henderson arrived at the mobile home, he was struck by gunfire. It was unclear whether he was a resident of the mobile home park or was visiting family members at the time of the incident.
Within a day of the shooting, law enforcement made an arrest in connection with the case. On Thursday evening, Tye'rique Hardy, an 18-year-old from Ludowici, was taken into custody. He was initially detained without incident at another mobile home park, Lake View Mobile Home Park in Allenhurst, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Following his apprehension, Hardy was charged with the murder of Nahiem Henderson. At the time of the arrest, police indicated that more arrests were possible as the investigation continued.
