On a late Monday evening in August 2020, Darion Jester, a 30-year-old male, was at a Chevron gas station on Cleveland Avenue in southwest Atlanta. As he was pumping gas at approximately 10:20 p.m., gunfire erupted, and he was struck in the back. Another individual was also injured in the incident. Jester was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Tragically, Darion Jester succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital on the morning of Tuesday, August 25, 2020.
Known affectionately as 'Big D,' he was a well-regarded mixtape host and a graduate of South Atlanta High School. Friends and community members remembered him as a generous person.
The Atlanta Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting. As of the initial reports, the circumstances that led to the shooting were still being determined. Law enforcement had not identified any suspects in the case, and the investigation was described as ongoing. No arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the death of Darion Jester.
