Quintus Lamar Barnes, a 27-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in Albany, Georgia, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 2, 2020. The incident also left three other men wounded. At the time of the shooting, which occurred around 2 a.m. at a residence on East Residence Avenue, Barnes and the other victims were reportedly playing cards on the tailgate of a pickup truck.
According to the Albany Police Department, Barnes was struck in the right shoulder area and was pronounced dead at the scene. His death was recorded as the 13th homicide in the city of Albany for that year. The other three victims, identified as a 16-year-old, a 23-year-old, and a 48-year-old, sustained gunshot wounds to their legs and knee and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a gray Dodge Charger moving slowly in a nearby alley shortly after the gunshots were heard. However, as of the initial reports following the incident, the Albany Police Department had not identified any suspects and no arrests had been announced in connection with the shooting. The investigation into the death of Quintus Lamar Barnes and the assault on the three other men remains ongoing. There have been no subsequent public announcements regarding any arrests, suspects, or charges in the case.
