In the early hours of February 10, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the pre-dawn calm on Interstate 85 in Midtown Atlanta, leaving a grim scene that would snarl the morning commute for hours. Inside a car traveling southbound, two men were struck by bullets. One of the men, 29-year-old Jarmel Jowers, a male from New York, was fatally wounded and pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim in the vehicle was transported to a local hospital and survived his injuries.
