Scott Dennis Hayes Jr., a 40-year-old African American man from Rome, Georgia, tragically lost his life on March 22, 2021. Hayes was found with multiple gunshot wounds, including shots to the back and head, on a well-traveled walking trail between the Callier Forest Apartments and a nearby Toyota dealership. This path was frequently used by residents of the apartment complex and a nearby homeless camp. Hayes was known to walk this trail daily to a nearby gas station.
