In the early morning hours of Thursday, April 22, 2021, a verbal dispute in the quiet community of Kathleen, Georgia, ended in the death of 27-year-old Brock Thomas Parrish of Warner Robins. The incident occurred at a residence on the 1800 block of Georgia Highway 247 South. Houston County Sheriff's deputies responded to an emergency call at approximately 1:10 a.m.
and found Parrish with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Emergency medical services transported Parrish to Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville. However, due to the severity of his injury, he could not be stabilized and was later pronounced deceased. He was born on January 14, 1994, in Albany, Georgia, and was a 2012 graduate of Dale County High School. Those who knew him remembered him as a kind person who would give to others before himself and had a passion for bass fishing, the Atlanta Braves, and Alabama football.
The resident of the home where the shooting took place, 31-year-old Dylan Haywood Davis, was identified as the individual who fired the fatal shot. Investigators determined that a verbal altercation between Davis and Parrish preceded the shooting, which ended with Davis brandishing a rifle and firing a shot into Parrish's chest. Davis was taken into custody by responding deputies and was subsequently charged with one count of felony murder and one count of aggravated assault. He was detained at the Houston County Detention Center without bond. The investigation into the shooting was still ongoing.
