In the spring of 2019, the life of 18-year-old Keshawn Maurice Jackson, a Black male, was abruptly cut short in Macon, Georgia. On the evening of Monday, May 6, 2019, deputies responded to reports of gunfire at the intersection of Briarcliff Road and Boulevard. Upon their arrival, they discovered Jackson unresponsive in the driver's seat of his Toyota Corolla, having sustained a single gunshot wound to the head.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation into the homicide moved swiftly. It was reported that Jackson had stopped his car on Briarcliff Road to speak with an acquaintance, 18-year-old Kyshaun Rashad Jones. An altercation ensued between the two teenagers, which tragically escalated. During the dispute, Jones allegedly shot Jackson and then fled the area on foot before law enforcement arrived.
The day after the fatal shooting, on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, investigators with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office located and arrested Kyshaun Rashad Jones at his place of employment without incident. He was subsequently charged with the murder of Keshawn Maurice Jackson. Jones was taken to the Bibb County Jail where he was held without bond.
