On the evening of April 25, 2021, in Monticello, Georgia, the life of 41-year-old Kira Syrita Ammons, an African American woman, was tragically cut short. At approximately 8:37 p.m., emergency services received a call from the Academy Village apartment complex on Hillsboro Street. There, Ammons had been shot multiple times. Despite the swift response, her injuries proved fatal.
