Kira Syrita Ammons, a 41-year-old African American woman from Monticello, Georgia, tragically lost her life on April 25, 2021. The incident occurred at the Academy Village apartment complex on Hillsboro Street, where she was shot multiple times. The first call to the Jasper County 911 Center came in at 8:37 p.m., and by approximately 9:00 p.m., the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office had requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to handle the murder investigation.
