In the spring of 2021, a domestic situation in Columbus, Georgia, ended in the death of 38-year-old John Anthony Johnson. On the evening of May 1st, police responded to a call about a person lying in the street and discovered Johnson with a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation that followed led to the arrest of his wife of one month, Charise Douglas, who was 31 at the time. Douglas was subsequently charged with murder and the use of a firearm during ...
