In the spring of 2021, a young man's life was tragically cut short in Albany, Georgia. Malik Deon Ford, a 20-year-old male, was killed on May 13, 2021, a victim of gun violence. Remembered as an enthusiastic and spontaneous person with a gigantic personality, he was known to light up a room and bring joy to those around him. His energetic personality and willingness to help anyone in need drew many people to him throughout his life.
The Albany Police Department swiftly began an investigation into the homicide. Their efforts led to the identification of two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting. Shortly after the incident, authorities arrested 17-year-old Jakobe King. Following his arrest, the police enlisted the public's assistance in locating a second individual.
This public appeal proved successful, and on May 26, 2021, the second suspect, 18-year-old Kadafi Simone Brown, was taken into custody. Both Brown and King have been charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime for their alleged roles in Malik Ford's death.
