Justine Allison Bernard, a 19-year-old female, was fatally shot in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 2, 2021. A promising student at the University of New Haven, where she was on the Dean's List, Bernard was visiting the city at the time of her death.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours inside an apartment on Auburn Avenue. An argument between Bernard and an acquaintance, 20-year-old Nyasia Reeves, escalated, leading to Reeves allegedly shooting Bernard.
Following the shooting, Bernard managed to drive herself to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.
Atlanta Police Department homicide detectives quickly identified Reeves as the suspect. She was arrested and taken into custody, facing charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Reeves was subsequently booked into the Fulton County Jail. The investigation determined that the shooting was the result of the dispute between the two women.
