Jessica J. Gerling, a 28-year-old woman from Allenhurst, Georgia, was found dead on June 28, 2021. Her body was discovered in a mobile home park in Long County, Georgia, around 11:30 p.m. by a Long County deputy. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) confirmed that Jessica died as a result of a shooting. Initially, there were no immediate suspects, and the authorities were not actively seeking anyone for the homicide, although they were following leads and developing new information.
