In the early morning hours of July 18, 2021, a sense of unease settled over the quiet streets of Manchester, Georgia. The Manchester Police Department received a 911 call at approximately 12:43 a.m. reporting a vehicle stopped in the road at the intersection of North Trigville Street and Ted Anderson Avenue. Responding officers arrived to a grim scene. Inside the driver's seat of the car was 18-year-old Ryan Wright Jr., an African American male, who had been fatally shot. He had sustained gunshot wounds to his neck and torso and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was brought in to assist the Manchester Police Department with the case. An autopsy performed by the GBI Medical Examiner's Office officially ruled Wright's death a homicide. Despite the ongoing and active investigation by both law enforcement agencies, there have been no arrests made in connection with the shooting. Authorities have not identified any suspects or significant leads in the case and have continuously appealed to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough.
