In the early evening of December 28, 2021, a burst of violence at a Macon, Georgia, gas station tragically cut short the life of 36-year-old Jacovian Maxwell. An African American male, Maxwell was at the Shell station located at 100 South Heron Street, near Eisenhower Parkway, when he was shot near the gas pumps. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office received a call about the shooting at 6:58 p.m. and deputies, along with paramedics, were dispatched to the scene.
Upon their arrival, they found Maxwell with gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to Atrium Health Navicent for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Jacovian Maxwell succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The motive for the shooting remains unclear to investigators.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office has been investigating the homicide, but as of early 2026, no arrests have been made in connection with Maxwell's death.
