Dr. Matthew Willson, a 31-year-old British astrophysicist from Chertsey, Surrey, England, was tragically killed on January 16, 2022, while visiting Brookhaven, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Willson was in town to visit his girlfriend, Katherine Shepard, when he was struck by a stray bullet while lying in bed.
