In the early spring of 2022, the life of a young man was tragically cut short in a burst of violence that unsettled the community of Villa Rica, Georgia. Alvin Doby, a 24-year-old African American male, was fatally wounded on the evening of March 2nd at the Hampton Court Apartments on Industrial Boulevard. The incident, a double shooting, left another individual with a gunshot wound to the leg. Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, but Alvin Doby ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The Villa Rica Police Department promptly launched an investigation into the shooting. Their efforts quickly led to the identification of a primary suspect: 24-year-old Campris Tyrique Hill. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and law enforcement began the search for him. The investigation suggested that the shooting was not a random act of violence but rather part of a larger, more troubling pattern of violence in the area. Several months later, the search for the suspect came to an end in Youngstown, Ohio. During a routine traffic stop, authorities apprehended Campris Tyrique Hill, who had initially provided a false name to the officers. Following his arrest, the process of extraditing him back to Georgia was initiated. Hill faced serious charges, including one count of murder and one count of aggravated assault, in connection with the shooting that resulted in the death of Alvin Doby.
