In the quiet town of Adairsville, Georgia, a domestic disturbance call on the morning of March 15, 2022, led to the discovery of a family tragedy. Kelly Ruth Johnson Fletcher, a 61-year-old white female, was found in her home at 546 Fieldwood Drive NW with multiple gunshot wounds. First responders attempted to render aid, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The series of events began to unfold when dispatchers received a 911 call from Kelly's residence. During the call, they overheard a verbal altercation and what sounded like gunshots before the line went dead. This prompted an immediate response from the Bartow County Sheriff's Office. Living at the same address was Kelly's 31-year-old son, William David Fletcher. He surrendered to the authorities without incident and was taken into custody.
