Howard Smith, a 42-year-old African American man from Mableton, GA, was found dead on March 29, 2022. His body was discovered early in the morning, lying on the side of Mableton Parkway near Bonanza Trail, close to the SAW School. Cobb County police confirmed that Howard Smith had been killed by a gunshot wound to the head. The discovery of his body caused significant traffic disruptions during the morning rush hour as authorities began their investigation.
