Zachary Scott Jr., a 31-year-old Black man, died after a shooting in Dublin, Georgia, on April 6, 2022, in what appears from the public record to have been a sudden eruption of violence in the middle of an ordinary afternoon. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Dublin police were called at about 1:18 p.m. to 200 River View Drive, Apartment 214. When officers arrived, they found Scott unresponsive outside the residence. He was taken to Fairview Park Hospital, but he did not survive his injuries.

What investigators said happened next gave the case a grim and immediate shape. The GBI stated that the investigation found Scott and 22-year-old De’Andrian Coady of Dublin had gotten into an argument that turned physical, and that the confrontation ended with Scott being shot. In the telling preserved by state investigators and echoed by local news outlets, the violence was not described as a mystery with an unknown attacker still at large, but as a fast-moving dispute that escalated into homicide.

An arrest came quickly. On April 7, 2022, the day after the shooting, authorities announced that Coady had been arrested at his residence. The charges publicly reported against him were one count of murder, four counts of aggravated assault, and three counts of cruelty to children in the first degree. Those additional charges suggest other people, including children, were allegedly placed in danger by what happened that day, widening the tragedy beyond the fatal shot that ended Scott’s life.

In the online sources that are publicly available and widely indexed, the clearest confirmed developments are the shooting itself, the identification of De’Andrian Coady as the suspect, and his arrest on those charges. I did not find later widely indexed online reporting that clearly documented a trial, conviction, or final court disposition tied to Scott’s killing, so the publicly visible story remains centered on the deadly argument at River View Drive and the swift arrest that followed it.
