A quiet Thursday in Dexter, Georgia, was shattered by violence on June 9, 2022, leading to the death of 53-year-old William Thomas Overstreet. The incident, which unfolded on Moore Street, stemmed from an ongoing dispute between neighbors that tragically escalated.
Authorities were called to the scene in response to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, they discovered Overstreet, a male resident, had been shot. The Laurens County Sheriff's Office quickly identified his neighbor, 36-year-old Justin Glynn Brown, as the alleged shooter.
According to the investigation, the fatal encounter was preceded by a verbal altercation between the two men. This argument reportedly escalated to a physical fight. It was during this confrontation that Brown is alleged to have produced a firearm and shot Overstreet.
