On a tragic August day in 2022, Cheron Wade, a 48-year-old African American man, went to his job as a maintenance worker at the Columbia Commons apartment complex on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Atlanta, Georgia, not knowing it would be his last. An unsuspecting victim, he was caught in the crossfire of a drive-by shooting and lost his life. The intended targets of the violence were three other men, but a stray bullet found its way to Wade as he was diligently carrying out his duties.
