In the summer of 2023, a promising young man's life was tragically cut short in what became a complex and grim homicide investigation. Leondre Flynt, a 21-year-old male, left his family's home in Loganville, Georgia, on the morning of July 29, 2023. He told his sister he was going to pick up a car part and then meet a woman he had connected with online in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta. This would be the last time his family heard from him.
When he didn't return or make contact, his family reported him missing on August 1.
The investigation into Flynt's disappearance soon pointed to a grim conclusion. Atlanta police were led to the Marquis at Buckhead apartment complex, where evidence of a homicide was discovered. On August 16, maintenance workers at the complex found bloodstains on a railing and a red trail leading to the parking garage. Investigators learned that a 'shots fired' call had been made from the same complex on the day Flynt disappeared. A resident reported a bullet hole in their wall, leading police to the adjacent apartment, which was rented by Ahmir Bobo. Evidence gathered from this apartment led police to believe that Flynt had been shot and killed there.
The investigation identified three suspects believed to be involved in the murder and the subsequent cover-up. Police discovered that Flynt had been communicating with 21-year-old Audrey Zalky before he went missing. On the day of his disappearance, surveillance footage captured Zalky and another woman, Destiny Stephens, exiting Flynt's GMC Canyon pickup truck at a Lowe's in Atlanta. There, they were recorded purchasing a hand saw and bolt cutters. Flynt's truck was later tracked to Detroit, Michigan, two days after he was last seen.
Arrests in the case came in stages. Destiny Stephens was apprehended in the fall of 2023 and charged with murder and concealing the death of another. She was later granted a $150,000 bond. In December 2023, Audrey Zalky was arrested in Carroll County and faced the same charges. The third suspect, Ahmir Bobo, was located and arrested in Michigan in April 2024, also facing charges of murder and concealing the death of another. For months, Leondre Flynt's body remained missing. In a significant development, skeletal remains were discovered by land surveyors in a South Fulton area on December 19, 2023. After DNA testing, the Fulton County Medical Examiner confirmed in May 2024 that the remains were those of Leondre Flynt, bringing a painful chapter of uncertainty to a close for his family.
