In the late hours of an autumn evening in Valdosta, Georgia, a dispute between neighbors escalated into a fatal encounter that ended the life of 36-year-old Timothy Harrison. On October 6, 2022, police were dispatched to The Gables apartment complex on North St. Augustine Road at 10:47 p.m. following multiple 911 calls about a person being shot. Upon arrival, officers found bystanders attempting to render first aid to Harrison, who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his chest.

Emergency medical services arrived on the scene and continued to provide aid to Harrison before transporting him to South Georgia Medical Center. Despite the efforts of bystanders and medical professionals, he was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Investigators learned that Harrison had been involved in an argument with two of his neighbors, whom he knew. During the course of the argument, one of the neighbors allegedly produced a firearm and shot Harrison.

The investigation quickly led to the identification of two suspects: Jeremiah Dyson, 26, and Cameron Loveday, 27, both of Valdosta. Dyson was taken into custody at his residence without incident. Following the issuance of arrest warrants, detectives located and arrested Loveday, also without incident. Both men were transported to the Lowndes County Jail.

Jeremiah Dyson was charged with felony murder, felony aggravated assault, and felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Cameron Loveday faced charges of felony murder felony aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. In December 2022, a Lowndes County Grand Jury indicted both Dyson and Loveday on charges of felony murder and aggravated assault, moving the case forward for trial.
