Jamal Diggs, 33, a Black man from Baltimore, was found late on the night of June 15, 2013, in the unit block of North Rosedale Street, badly injured after a stabbing. The call came in around 11:45 p.m., and when officers arrived they found him suffering from multiple cuts, including wounds to his extremities, the kind of injuries that suggest a sudden, violent encounter at close range.
He was rushed to a hospital, but the damage had already been done; he died there from his injuries.
In the hours that followed, detectives began working the scene and chasing down whatever fragments the night had left behind—who saw what, who heard what, and where the trail might start on a block that had already gone quiet again.
Police did not announce any arrests or identify a suspect in the immediate aftermath, and they did not release additional details about what led up to the attack. Instead, investigators publicly appealed for help from anyone who might know something—however small it seemed—urging tips to be called in to homicide detectives at 410-396-2100.
