Christopher Daron Smith, a 51-year-old African American male from Columbus, Georgia, died on October 19, 2022. Smith, who served as a pastor at Word of Truth Outreach Ministries, was found dead from a single gunshot wound to the head. His death was ruled a suicide, which occurred during a recess in his trial for multiple sex offense charges involving the abuse of a minor.
