Henry H. Raley, a 24-year-old white male, was a police officer in Jacksonville, Florida. On November 29, 1900, Officer Raley was tragically shot and killed while attempting to arrest two intoxicated men near Davis Street and Forsyth Street. As he escorted one of the men towards a store to call for a wagon, a group of the man's friends confronted him, demanding the suspect's release.
