Investigator William Rowland Braden, a special agent with the United States Department of the Treasury's Internal Revenue Service - Alcohol Tax Unit, met a tragic end on July 22, 1935, in Calhoun County, Florida. On that fateful day, Braden was involved in a raid targeting an illegal still operation. During the raid, he was shot and killed by Charley Ash, the operator of the still.
