On April 23, 1987, Ronald Grogan, a 27-year-old white male police officer, was tragically killed in Palm Bay, Florida. Officer Grogan, along with his colleague Officer Gerald Johnson, responded to a mass shooting incident at a local shopping center. The perpetrator, William Bryan Cruse Jr., a 59-year-old retired librarian, had gone on a shooting spree, killing six civilians and wounding 14 others.
