Salvatore Angelo Callari, a 28-year-old resident of Palm Bay, Florida, tragically passed away on January 10, 2019. Originally from New York, Callari had moved to Palm Bay in 2004 and was known for his love of family, football, fishing, and golf. On the day of his death, his girlfriend, Kristen Brodie, returned home to find him deceased on the kitchen floor.
The initial investigation by Palm Bay Police revealed that Callari had been shot during a burglary at his residence.
The investigation into Callari's death was extensive and led to the identification of multiple suspects. The police discovered that the burglary was drug-related, and forensic evidence played a crucial role in solving the case. DNA evidence at the scene linked 53-year-old Charles Switzer and 33-year-old Robert Williams to the crime. Both men were found to have been involved in the planning and execution of the burglary that resulted in Callari's death. Switzer and Williams eventually pled guilty to their roles in the murder and were each sentenced to 22 years in prison.
Further investigation revealed a third suspect, 34-year-old Nicholas Delgado. Initially, there was insufficient evidence to charge Delgado, but continued efforts by law enforcement eventually led to his indictment. In March 2024, a Brevard County Grand Jury indicted Delgado on charges of First-Degree Premeditated Murder and Armed Burglary of a Dwelling. Delgado was arrested shortly after the indictment and is currently being held without bond in the Brevard County Jail. The prosecution has 45 days after Delgado's arraignment to decide whether to seek the death penalty.
