Arthy Sony Cetoute, a 17-year-old from Orlando, Florida, died on September 7, 2024, due to injuries sustained from a shooting that occurred two days earlier. On September 5, 2024, at approximately 7:20 PM, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting reported in the 1800 block of Americana Boulevard. Upon arrival, they found Cetoute critically injured with gunshot wounds.
Cetoute was transported to the hospital, where he remained in critical condition until he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, September 7, 2024. The incident began when Cetoute went to work and was later picked up by friends. He was then robbed of his wallet and phone, and subsequently shot twice in the head. His friends called for help, but it was too late to save him.
The investigation into Cetoute's death led to the arrest of two suspects. Derrick Sharod Lafure, 17, was arrested in Florida on September 17, 2024, and charged with First Degree Murder with a Firearm. Ja’Corey Latrieus Lowery, also 17, was apprehended on November 15, 2024, in Greensboro, North Carolina, by U.S. Marshals, and similarly charged with First Degree Murder with a Firearm.
Cetoute's family has been deeply affected by his death, describing him as a bright, caring, friendly, and outgoing individual who had a promising future ahead. A GoFundMe campaign was set up to assist with funeral expenses, highlighting the community's support for the grieving family.
