Despite the immediate response of law enforcement and medical personnel, efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Tyrone's mother, Sheena Collier, described the heart-wrenching moment she learned of her son's death.
She had been taking out the trash when she heard sirens and felt an inexplicable sense of unease, prompting her to search for Tyrone. Upon arriving at the crime scene, she was instructed to wait as police continued their investigation. Collier eventually visited Holmes Regional Medical Center in search of her son but was unable to find him. She returned to the crime scene, where detectives delivered the devastating news of Tyrone's passing.
Tyrone was a student who attended school during the day and worked at a Burger King in West Melbourne at night. He had come home earlier that evening on his scooter before leaving again. His family, including his twin sister and younger sister, are grieving his loss, and they have received support from his friends, classmates, and the principal of Palm Bay High School, as well as community leaders like Bishop Jacquelyn Gordon of Shiloh Christian Center.
The Palm Bay Police Department is actively investigating the shooting and has urged the public to come forward with any information they may have regarding the case. As of the current date, no arrests have been announced. Tyrone's grandmother, Yolanda Collier Cooper, has also appealed for anyone with information to speak up, emphasizing the need to stop senseless violence.
Tyrone was remembered by his family as a kind and outgoing young man who loved life. His death marked the 19th reported homicide in Brevard County for the year 2024, and the community continues to seek justice for his tragic and untimely death.
