A 38-year-old man has died more than one year after he was shot in an east Birmingham public housing community.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office Tuesday identified the victim as Elbert Lewis, and said his death has been ruled a homicide.
Lewis was critically wounded on Nov. 29, 2016 at Marks Village in the Gate City community. The shooting happened about 11:50 a.m. in the 6800 block of Kimberly Avenue, said Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates.
