Damian Bowie, a 23-year-old resident of Tampa, Florida, was tragically killed on March 2, 2014. On that fateful day, Bowie was found fatally shot at the Avesto Del Rio Apartments in Tampa. The initial investigation revealed that Bowie had been attacked in the parking lot of the apartment complex before being shot. Despite the immediate efforts of law enforcement, the case went cold, leaving Bowie's family and friends in a state of grief and uncertainty for nearly a decade.

breakthrough in the case came almost ten years later, thanks to the relentless efforts of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Cold Case Unit. Investigators determined that Javonte Dennard, who was 33 years old at the time of his arrest, was responsible for the shooting. Dennard, who was already serving time in prison on unrelated charges, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with Bowie's death. The investigation revealed that Dennard had attacked Bowie in the parking lot and subsequently shot him.
In addition to Dennard, two other individuals were implicated in the crime. Deandra Jenkins, aged 37, was arrested and charged with principal to second-degree murder. This charge is typically applied to individuals who are present during a crime or who assist in its commission. Brittney White, aged 36, was also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to second-degree murder and fabricating false physical evidence. These arrests were a significant development in the case, bringing a sense of justice and closure to Bowie's family after years of uncertainty.
