Shiek Bernardo Williams, a 37-year-old resident of Jacksonville, Florida, was found dead on December 19, 2016. His body was discovered in the early hours of the morning near the intersection of Joos and Jones roads in the Whitehouse area of Jacksonville. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reported that Williams had been shot, with a single bullet wound to the head. His body was found by a passerby returning home from work, who immediately notified the authorities.
The area where his body was discovered was subsequently cordoned off for a thorough investigation by homicide detectives.
The investigation into Williams' death revealed that he was a member of the Rolling 20's gang, a subset of the Bloods. According to an arrest warrant and subsequent grand jury indictment, the gang had ordered a hit on Williams due to multiple violations of gang rules. Williams had been referring to himself as an "OG" (Original Gangster) without the gang's approval, was involved in sexual relations with female gang members despite having a sexually transmitted disease, and was abusing alcohol and cocaine. Additionally, some gang members believed Williams was attempting to set them up to be killed.
On the night of December 18, 2016, a meeting was held by the Rolling 20's gang at a park on the Westside of Jacksonville. Following the meeting, Williams was taken to a wooded area by three gang members, including Michael "Indiana Boy" Latrelle McMillon. Williams was forced to exit the vehicle and kneel before being shot multiple times in the head. His body was left on the side of Joos Road, where it was discovered a few hours later.
The investigation into Williams' murder led to the arrest of several gang members. McMillon was charged with first-degree murder and was later overheard discussing the murder while in jail on unrelated drug charges. DNA evidence linked McMillon to the crime scene, and a red bandanna found at the scene further implicated him. Other gang members involved in the murder were also arrested on separate charges, including David "Fierce" Alfred Goodman and Mondrell "Pak" Marquice Williams, who were charged in unrelated violent crimes.
The case highlighted the violent and strict nature of gang rules within the Rolling 20's and the lengths to which they would go to enforce their code. The murder of Shiek Bernardo Williams serves as a grim reminder of the dangers associated with gang involvement and the brutal consequences of violating gang rules.
