On November 10, 2017, Walter Zelaya-Mendoza, aged 17, was found dead in Jacksonville, Florida. His body was discovered in a wooded area on Melissa Court, between Ricker and Old Middleburg roads. Police responded to a call about the discovery, and upon arrival, found that Walter had been fatally shot. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into the homicide, but no suspect has been identified, and the case remains unsolved.
