Javan Holmes, a 30-year-old man from Jacksonville, Florida, was fatally shot on October 18, 2023. He was found in the 2800 block of Sophia Street with at least one gunshot wound, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO). Despite being taken to a local hospital, doctors were unable to save his life, and he died from his injuries.
The investigation into Holmes' murder led to the identification of five suspects early on.
The JSO arrested Anthony Beach, 21, Arron Sutherland, 21, Daisha Carney, 16, and Dylan Hallicy, 20, on charges of second-degree murder, along with other charges. Laetitta Moore, 19, was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact.
The arrests were made after the JSO obtained warrants for the four suspects, in addition to Sutherland, who had already been booked for possession of a firearm by a previous juvenile delinquent. The swift action by the JSO resulted in the apprehension of all five individuals implicated in the murder.
The case highlights the collaborative efforts of law enforcement in identifying and apprehending suspects involved in violent crimes, ensuring justice for the victims and their families.
