Janine Ackerman, aged 35, tragically lost her life on April 8, 2017, in Coral Gables, Florida. Ackerman, who was the general manager at the Equinox gym in Merrick Park, was a victim of a workplace shooting. The incident occurred when Abeku Wilson, a 33-year-old former employee of the gym, entered the facility with a handgun and opened fire.
