On February 5, 2022, Franklyn Jose Pineyro, aged 49, was tragically killed in a shooting incident at a Publix supermarket in Coral Gables, Florida. The incident occurred around 6:15 PM when Pineyro was standing in line to purchase lottery tickets. An argument broke out between Pineyro and another customer, 51-year-old Osmel Lugo-Gutierrez. The confrontation escalated quickly, leading Lugo-Gutierrez to pull out a 9mm handgun and shoot Pineyro in the chest. Pineyro died at the scene.
